Burning Spear - The Showbox, Seattle, 1982

$26.25 AUD

Winston Rodney began recording as Burning Spear at Studio One in Kingston in the early 1970s under Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, cutting early sides that drew directly on Marcus Garvey's Pan-African writing. The 1975 Island Records album Marcus Garvey, produced by Jack Ruby and recorded at Channel One, established him internationally; Garvey's Ghost followed the same year as a dub companion.

Rodney later founded his own Spear label, releasing Hail H.I.M. in 1980 and Farover in 1982. The Showbox in Seattle, where this poster originates, was a consistent stop on the reggae touring circuit through the 1980s.
