In the early 1980s Dexys Midnight Runners were unlike anything else in British pop. Led by Kevin Rowland, the band fused Northern soul, R&B and working-class romanticism into a fiercely committed live show built around discipline and emotional intensity.
The Midnight Runners Intense Emotion Revue took place at Seapoint, Galway on Wednesday 23 July, with Black Arabs & The Upset and DJ Brother Martin. At this stage Dexys were building the fervent reputation that would soon carry them to international success with Searching for the Young Soul Rebels and beyond.
