Alessi Brothers - Seabird
Billy and Bobby Alessi are twin brothers from Long Island who signed to A&M Records in the mid-1970s after years writing songs for other artists, a craft that shaped their instinct for melody over spectacle.
Seabird was released in 1977 and produced by Tommy LiPuma, whose work with George Benson and Dave Grusin placed him at the centre of the decade's West Coast soft rock and jazz-adjacent production world.
The album found a second audience decades later through both Balearic DJs and Japanese AOR collectors, for whom its close harmonies and unhurried arrangements carried the same appeal as city pop.
