Ramones - Pauley Ballroom, UC Berkeley, California, April 15, 1980

$24.03 SGD

The Ramones recorded their debut album at Plaza Sound in New York in February 1976 for $6,400; Sire released it that April. Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, and Tommy Ramone were all from Forest Hills, Queens, and had been playing CBGB since August 1974.

By the time of the UC Berkeley date, the band had released at least four studio albums and were a known quantity on the American college circuit without ever breaking through commercially in the US the way they had in the UK.

Howie Klein, listed here as DJ, was co-founder of San Francisco's 415 Records and a key figure in the Bay Area new wave scene, later signing acts to Reprise as a label executive. The Plastics as support made the bill one of the more genuinely international new wave shows of that touring season.
